Yesterday our meeting lasted nearly 8 hours! My body needs to move more today after sitting so long.
But we approved our $7.7 billion budget restoring many positions in key departments, increasing our mental health staffing by 37 employees, and approving many items that will improve the quality of life for residents in District 2, including, funding for motel conversions in Stanton, approval of additional funding to increase the warm line for wellness and suicide prevention, new technology in county buildings and better security cameras in the jails, contracts to run county golf courses, environmental services for the airport, mobile vaccine clinics, support for our non profits like Ocapica (Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance) & Latino Health Access working in our diverse communities to improve health and wellness, funding for road & park improvements, and more…
Our team continues to persevere to address our key priorities of ending homelessness, holding the county responsible for mental health and homeless services, creating jobs and career paths through workforce development, and working on our climate action plan.
